Thirty-five Years experience in dispute resolution of varying types, including international arbitration. Hands-on management experience in complex engineering and construction projects. Wide experience of the oil and gas construction and engineering industries.

Activities in a range of sectors, especially oil & gas, shipbuilding, energy, chemicals, defence, shipbuilding and engineering & construction. Clients include major oil and gas companies and contractors, as well as companies in other energy fields, social housing companies, and a number of SMEs.

Previous corporate roles with Trafalgar House and Kvaerner included responsibility for all joint ventures, Alliances and similar arrangements. This included work in many parts of the world, including Norway, Netherlands, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Russia etc.

Executive Vice President responsible for a cluster of major clients including the company’s onshore work in Scotland, major fabrication contracts for clients in Norway, field operations support contracts in the UK and Australia, and a power station proposal in Wales.

A regular speaker at international conferences on legal and contractual subjects. Specifically requested by major clients to present ideas on contract forms and structuring.

Involvement in development of Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010, and co-author of Scottish Arbitration Handbook (2011). One of the draftsmen for the CRINE (now LOGIC) Standard Contracts in use in the North Sea and elsewhere.
