Professor of International and Business Law (April 2004 -); Director of Legal Research and Director of Postgraduate Research Degrees in Law, Department of Accounting & Law, Portsmouth Business School, University of Portsmouth, United Kingdom. He is also a Visiting Senior Research Fellow (Spring term 2006), Department of Law, Queen Mary, University of London, and an Honorary Fellow (January 2006 - ), Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee, Scotland. Visiting Professor (International Commercial Arbitration) at the Faculty of Law, University of Western Ontario, Canada in the academic year 2007-8.
Council Member of the International Chamber of Commerce Institute of World Business Law, Paris.
He has worked as an international arbitration law expert / consultant in high-profile ICSID and ICC cases and also as an International Legal Consultant to governments, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and multinational law firms.
His consultancy work includes drafting and negotiation of dispute settlement clauses, including arbitration clauses, clauses concerning valuation of petroleum, various aspects of production sharing contracts, interpretation of various contractual clauses of various international economic development contracts / State contracts, international commercial contracts, interpretation and application of bilateral investment protection treaties, advice on public policy issues and international arbitration, ICSID and ICC provisions, and matters of dispute settlement procedures, and in the wider area of international foreign investment law and international business transactions.
